A cool article about wives living retro lifestyles of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s is featured on Current.com. It talks of how some women are trying to be like June Cleaver. I know it's not a lifestyle for everyone, but I happen to like being a traditional housewife.
I really like what SuperLayne had to say on the subject:
I can really see how a person would like living this way. They've taken a period that they find to be lovely (30's, 40's or 50's) and made they're home a place where they can be a person in that era all the time. It's like a time capsule sanctuary and it's really very cool!
Now days, both men and women are expected to run around all day long, working and taking the kids places, and for what? To come home to a messy house, where all you can think about is how much work is getting neglected there. Stress stress stress. If you can't relax in your own home, then the work you do all day long really isn't worth much.
Say what you want about women's "roles" and all that. There's something wonderful about being able to devote all of your energy to making sure your home is a clean, caring place where your family has everything they need all the time.
Plus, those dresses are so FLATTERING! It's win win!
